About James E. Arrington, Jr.
Jim grew up in Grundy, graduating from that high school in 1965. He then graduated from East Tennessee State University in 1969 and immediately went into the Army. After the Army, Jim graduated from the law school at the University of Richmond in 1975.
Jim returned to southwest Virginia where his family has been for generations. As most country lawyers, Jim had a general practice until he and Chuck Schelin decided to specialize in protecting the rights of injured people. Jim, along with an extremely compassionate and competent staff, has collected millions of dollars for thousands of clients. As one of the leading injury lawyers in southwest Virginia, Jim is committed to giving the best possible legal representation that he can.
Jim has practiced in most of the courts of southwest Virginia as well as the Virginia Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Virginia. He has also practiced law in the Western District of Virginia, United States District Court. He has served as the substitute Judge in both General District and Juvenile and Domestic Relations Courts. He is a member of the American Bar Association; the Virginia State Bar; and, the American Association for Justice. He has qualified as a mediator and arbitrator. He is a founding member of the Southern Trial Lawyers Association.
Jim is an avid learner and attends several seminars every year. Among those, he attended the National College of Advocacy by the American Trial Lawyers Association at Harvard. Jim has a love for flying and has a commercial pilots license.
